Dubai, March 2012:  This is one of those rare events where you will find me at a charity event with fellow artisans. Usually, I meet art and craft colleagues at the various exhibitions.  This event was organised by the Angel Appeal which is a Charity Mission to Seafarers High Tea & Jazz in the British Consultate’s Grounds (opposite the Deira creek).

Catering was by Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai Deira Creek. Lovely array of mini-sandwiches, scones and sweets.

Sandwiches.....

and sweets...

On my right (see below photograph), I had the lovely Sue Tyson who organised the table reservations and the tickets. So thank you for this.  I have known Sue for nearly 7 years now. She is probably the first handcrafted jewelry maker designer that I met in Dubai. She specialises in Murano glass type jewelry.

On my left was the lovely and full-of-creative-ideas Carla Bygrave, who makes jute bags, buntings and more. In fact I have a lunch box cooler from her. Bright, colourful and practical. Carla was recently seen on TV sharing her handcrafted journey. I hope she shares the video clip with us soon!

Such great artisan company! Photo by Sue Tyson, with thanks.

Next to Carla was an artisan that I was introduced to for the first time. Paula Horsfall, specialises in making vintage handcrafts called Pretty Little Things. My mind drifted to the huge Vintage Emporium in the UK’s St. Albans, which Paula should try to visit sometime.

The lovely Lianne and the very talented Amanda. Thanks to Sue Tyson for the photos.

Lianne Welford from the Majlis Gallery as well as greeting cards crafter Amanda Spriggs, Bespoke Cards Dubai sat opposite of us.

Entertainment included a talented Jazz singer, who I was afraid would topple any moment, simply because of the high heels she wore while walking on the soft grass.

This was also my first time attending a live auction and the guy who conducted the auction (I forget his name) was mighty good at it. While I didn’t win anything, I went home with some great gifts (a variety of flavoured teas by one of the sponsors).

Last but not least, a fab group photo!

A group photo is always great!
