The slogan of the Taste of Dubai is – if you love food, drink and music, you will love Taste of Dubai. We would like to add another ‘noun’. Because we love food, drink, music AND colour, we really enjoyed the Taste of Dubai.

We bought the VIP tickets that enabled us to use the VIP lounge (by Emirates NBD) – we had a choice of four free dishes to sample from and we chronicle the photos of the dishes we tasted for you.

At some point, the sun really got to us – it was a hot day for early March in the UAE – and so we stuck to taking photos and lounging around the abundant shade of trees in the Dubai Media City area.  We would like to add that for interviews with world renowned chefs and restaurant managers, you need to read these at FooDiva’s website – your No. 1 candid food review website in the Middle East.  FooDiva interviewed one of our favourite chefs, Gary Rhodes, so watch out for more of her reviews at her review website.

Now, for some photos on the dishes we sampled. First in line was the lovely, stuffed chicken wings from Chi’Zen  Totally divine, crispy on the outside, soft yet filling stuffing inside.

Next, we tried the assorted maki as well as beef Robata from Robayataki & Sushi. The assorted maki consisted of four pieces of maki, made of spicy tuna, crispy salmon skin, crispi ‘n spicy, and California.

You get the drift, I guess. Somehow, for most part, we sampled only Chinese food. Guess that’s life. No doubt, each food stand was special, great food and perhaps we should have gone each day to have a taste at other stands. Maybe next year.

We then tried some traditional Chinese food, at The China Club. With all the Chinese flavour taking over our system, we were definitely transported into Hong Kong and its dim sums that we so miss.  To catch a bite of those memories, we tried the crab roe dim sum.  And before you could say, “Dim Sum,” the soft dumplings were already on their way to our stomachs.

By now, we were really thirsty, so we got into our soup mode (the only thing we wanted to drink in the heat was water).  The lobster and corn bisque at the Pisces food stand was so tempting – thick, creamy, steaming hot – we were ready for the bisque.

As much as we tried to stay from the sweet menu, we couldn’t resist Moroccan delights from Almaz by Momo. The food stand was a colourful mix of Oriental colours with an equally attractive painting – we don’t know what those are – so this stall was our final stop. Unfortunately, there are no closeups of the sweets because, you guessed it, they disappeared too quickly for the camera snapshot.

And here questions of type such if honestly strike me not much as I wrote everything higher. It is visible you simply you don’t want to read all this. As my parrot does.
